                                                               GETAWAY SAMS
September 2011
The camp out scheduled for the fourth week-end in September was canceled for lack of participation.  Due to
broken rigs, illness and other obligations, Sharon Bundy found it necessary to cancel the regular scheduled
campout.  Instead, a Chapter business meeting was held on Saturday September 24 at the home of the
Johnsons.  A potluck luncheon followed the meeting.  Our thanks to Sue and John for opening their home to
us at such late notice for our meeting.
Present were President Al Richardson and Della, Vice President Carol Ring and Joe, Secretary Esther
Eckhart and Gerry, Treasurer Sue Johnson and John, the Claytons, Ron Snelling, Sharon & Pam Bundy and
our newest member Deb Dlugoz.
T-shirts with the Good Sam logo on the backs are being ordered for those who want them.  The cost is $6.98
each.  Contact Sharon Bundy for more information.
The Snellings will be hosting at the November Samboree.  We will have teatime each day and a “Hobo Stew”
dinner one evening so don’t forget to bring a can or two of your favorite “stew veggie” to contribute to the
pot.  All times and places will be announced at the Samboree.  We will wait until we get the Samboree
schedule so there will be no conflicts with scheduled activities.
One of the main topics at the meeting was to be a discussion and vote on the proposed changes to the
Standing Rules and Chapter By-Laws.  It was discovered that the committee did not have the latest
documents to work with.  Therefore, the vote was tabled un til they can review the latest, most up to date
versions.  We will discuss and vote on the changes as soon as the committee of John, Carol and Gerry
complete their review.
A few of our members will be going to Camping World in St Augustine Oct. 13 - 15 to help in their Good Sam
Days promotion.  This will be an opportunity to meet and greet Camping World Customers and tell them
about the Good Sam Club and hopefully obtain some prospective new Chapter members. If you get this in
time and want to help, contact John or Sharon for more info.
Welcome to Deb, Daniel and D J as our newest Chapter members.  They were voted in at the regular
Chapter meeting in May, but due to your editor’s summer trip and surgery, this was late being announced.
We should be at the October campout at Kelly’s RV Park in White Springs.  Please don’t forget your self
addressed envelopes.  If you have been getting your newsletter in an envelope with a Good Sam logo in the
upper left corner, I do not have envelopes from you.  If you would like to save the cost of the envelopes for
you and the cost of a stamp for the Chapter, you can get the newsletter by email only.  Just let me know.  I
email the letter to everyone I have an email address for anyway, so it is no more work for me.  One of the
advantages of email is that you get the newsletter a few days earlier.
Also, don’t forget your aluminum can tabs for Ronald McDonald House and your “Pennies for Pooches”.
John and Sue Johnson have come up with a new idea.  They are cute little figures made from cotton.  He
plans to take them to the Veterans in Lake City and to sell at the Samboree in November.  I am sure he will
tell us all about them in October.  See Ya at Kelly’s

                                                               SUNSET RAMBLERS

September 2011
The Sunset Ramblers had 5 rigs present and 1 guest rig for our September campout at Grand Lake Golf &
RV Resort in Orange Lake, Florida.  We had a joint campout with North Florida Lifetime Sam’s.  We gathered
for fellowship in the shade of several awnings and sunshades put together.  It was wonderful to see such a
big circle of friends.  We enjoyed breakfast both Saturday and Sunday mornings as a group.  The cooks kept
us all well fed.  We spent time working on a rig that lost it brakes in route to the campout.  We played lots of
games, laughed and had a good time.  We made the economy of the local area greener Friday night by
letting others do the cooking.  We enjoyed the fellowship of each other for supper again on Saturday night
with one couple fixing smoked chicken and everyone else bringing the sides.  Sunday night we gathered for a
traditional, bring a meat to grill and a side dish to share.  There was lots of fun as we gathered around the
big grill to cook.  We ended the campout looking forward to the next time.  We will all see each other down
the road at various things before we meet as a chapter in October at Stephen Foster State Park the 14-
16th.  Everyone is always welcome to come and visit with us.  We would love to visit for the day or camp with
you for the weekend.  Please give our president Leo Nadeau a call at 904-771-2762 to join us as we gather
for food, fun and fellowship.
October 2011
The Sunset Ramblers had 4 rigs present for our October campout at Stephen Foster State Park.  We had
supper together Thursday night and enjoyed the fellowship time.  Friday brought beautiful weather as the
cooler fall temperatures were here.  We enjoyed a shopping trip to town and had great conversations with
our fellow campers in the park.  Friday night we enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs hot off the grill.  It was a
great evening of relaxing conversation.  Saturday we worked together to create a beautiful wine basket to be
raffled off at the upcoming Samboree.  We had lots of giggles as we tried to make it all fit in.  That afternoon
we relaxed and enjoyed some great stories.  Dinner that night was Oktoberfest.  We had lots of new dishes to
try.  The favorite was definitely the pumpkin apple bread.  We enjoyed our weekend of relaxation and are
looking forward to the Florida Good Sams Samboree next month at Southern Palms RV in Eustis.  Everyone
is always welcome to come and visit with us.  We would love to visit for the day or camp with you for the
weekend.  Please give our president Leo Nadeau a call at 904-771-2762 to join us as we gather for food, fun
and fellowship.
